How to set-up & DJ your own Silent Disco

It’s so easy, my dog could do it! (Well, actually, it does require opposable thumbs.)

Below is a visual guide starring my dog, “Pascal,” to show you how!

(It is in the “story” style, so you click on the image to get it to advance or click on the left of the image to get it to play the previous slide(s). )

Steps to set-up, plug-in and DJ your own Silent Disco Dance Party.

Read on to learn how to plug in your phone, tablet, or laptop into the transmitters that we include when your rent our headphones. Doing so allows you to DJ your own silent disco dance party with your own playlists.

#1) When your rentals arrive, do a sound check first thing.

Your rentals will arrive two days before your party, open the box(s) and locate the transmitter cases so you can do a sound check long before your event.

#2) Open up the transmitter cases and plug them into an electrical outlet.

They will turn on and already be on the correct channel. No need to adjust anything.

#3) Next, plug the supplied aux cord into the “Audio in” jack on the transmitter and the other end into the “Headphone” jack on your device.

#4) Or, use Bluetooth to connect/pair the transmitter with your device.

Use the Bluetooth if you don’t have a “headphone” jack on your device or if you need to have a wireless connection between the transmitter and your device -especially helpful if it is your cell phone.

#5) Repeat this with each of the three transmitters we supply. You will need any combination of three devices; one for each transmitter.

#6) Queue up your favorite playlist, grab a pair of headphones, turn them on and start your dance party!

If you are using a streaming account, remember that you will need three different accounts unless you have the family plan. You will use one account for each device.

If you do have the family plan, it allows you to use multiple devices on the same account simultaneously.

We like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music and Pandora best.

Are you ready to rent headphones for your party?

Cost of a Silent Disco Party versus a Regular DJ

Which costs more? A regular DJ with loudspeakers or a Silent Disco DJ?

Obviously one sound system using loudspeakers can be heard by several hundred or a thousand people, but one headphone can only be heard by one person.

Fee to rent silent disco is per headphone
With our disinfected Silent Disco headphones, you rent one headphone per guest.

So with a small party, a silent disco system is going to cheaper to rent than the traditional loudspeakers but with a large party the number of headphones required will cause silent disco to me more expensive.

Let’s look at some actual numbers

Regular DJ: $1000 -In my area, a DJ (using loudspeakers) that is considered professional quality is going to start around a $1000 and that price remains the same no matter how many guests are invited.

Silent Disco Rental: $521.50 to rent 100 headphones.
The price goes up as you add headphones (and down if you need fewer) because you need one headphone per guest. The price goes up as the guest count increases.

With a sound system that uses loudspeakers, one price fits all!

Cost of loudspeakers versus price of Silent Disco Headphones
For a DJ with traditional speakers, it is one price regardless the number of guests.

Silent Disco: If you want to rent silent disco headphones in 2020, it costs between $4 and $7 per headphone rental depending on how many you rent.

At www.silent-disco-rental.com, our price is as low as $4 per disinfected headphone for larger quantities but the price per unit is higher for rental of smaller numbers.

Here are some round number examples: (You can rent exact numbers of headphones for your party.)“Pricing”

What is your cost for renting our fully disinfected silent disco headphones?

Pricing depends on quantity.

Examples of current pricing:

Rental of 20 = $177.50
Rental of 30 = $222.50
Rental of 40 = $266.50
Rental of 50 = $309.00
Rental of 75 = $415.25
Rental of 100=$521.50
Rental of 150=$729.00
Rental of 200=$936.50
Rental of 300=$1344.00
Rental of 500=$2144.00

(We also charge a security deposit, but that get’s returned to you when the equipment comes back safely. Learn more about that on our pricing page.)

At my company, the DJ’s fee is an additional $197 per hour if we are supplying the music, the music players, the light show, our DJ skills and our master of ceremony skills.

The prices above don’t include the cost of a DJ, but with silent disco, you don’t need to hire a DJ.

Or to say it more accurately, our equipment makes it much easier to skip hiring and paying the professional DJ, again, saving you money.

We provide the professional equipment and all you need to supply is your cell phone streaming your favorite music playlist.

You don’t need a DJ because you connect your phone (or laptop or tablet) directly to the transmitters that we send you with the headphones. (Connect with either Bluetooth or an aux cord)

The transmitters broadcast your music to the headphones.

We send you three transmitters. One for each channel on the three channel headphones.

Three times as much musical value in silent disco headphones.

With three channels available to play three separate playlists, your guests have three options of music at any given time. (They can switch which channel their headphones are listening to with the flick of a switch on their headphones at any time during the event)

So silent disco offers three times more music to your guests than a traditional loudspeaker system. This adds to the perceived value of silent disco over traditional loudspeakers.

This three-channel increase in music options for your guests means less reliance on a professional DJ’s ability to choose the one unique song that should be played at any given time, which makes it quite a bit easier to justify saving the cost of hiring a DJ and using only automated playlists on your cell phone.

Again the increased value as a party format leans toward the silent disco headphones!

Yes, a professional DJ can add to the fun and three professional DJ’s can be even more fun than one! Each DJ broadcasts on their own channel (to their own transmitter).

With three channels to stream unattended-automated playlists, there is a much greater chance of at least one of them having a fantastic song playing at any given time.

If you are charging admission, guests are willing to pay a higher admission fees for Silent Disco Parties.

So you will bring in more money from a silent disco party versus a traditional party with loudspeakers.

The increased income from a silent disco can pay for the headphone rentals

Obviously, this doesn’t pertain to wedding receptions or parties where you are not trying to make money, but it is important to note that people a silent disco format to be more valuable.

Silent Disco is a hot and new trend that is easily three times the fun of a regular party!

How about you? Have you had the chance to compare the two? Which format is worth more to you? -Let us know in the comments.

We DJ with both Silent Disco and traditional loudspeaker sound systems, contact us when your next party is coming up and we will help you decide which one is best for you.

How will I communicate with my friends if they are wearing headphones and dancing to a different song?

How will I talk to my friends at a Silent Disco Party?

This is the first question everyone asks when they learn they will be wearing headphones.

It is a natural concern because connecting with friends is the primary reason that parties even exist!

This article will show you how conversation and connection potential is actually increased by the presence of the headphones.

#1) Short exchanges are easier with Silent Disco headphones.

You can lift one side off your ear momentarily. You hear what your friend is saying quite clearly, respond and put the set back over your ears. You don’t miss a beat, you don’t lose the music, you don’t lose the mood and you don’t have to shout over the loud music from traditional sound systems.

People who have not tried it fear that removing their headphones will be the equivalent of going outside of the party room to talk.

You don’t have to leave the room or even stop dancing. You control how much the music volume is reduced by controlling how far you lift the headphones off your ears. It is very easy to balance the volume of the music with your ability to hear your friend. The music can be as loud as you want it to be. With just one hand adjusting the earpiece on one side, you can literally talk and dance at the same time.

You say, “Yeah, but you still have to get your friend’s attention in order for them to lift up their headphones.” That is true, but when are dancing to traditional speakers that are turned up as loud as dance music needs to be, can you really talk to your friend without first getting their attention? You have to pull them close and lean toward them before they can hear your words.

At a dance that is powered by loud speakers, you have to deal with the disadvantage of the music remaining at full volume while you try to talk (or yell to be heard). If the dance is powered by headphones, you can speak at a normal conversational volume with your friend because the loud music immediately turns down as you pull the earpieces away from your ears.

This makes verbal communication easier and of higher quality when the party uses Silent Disco equipment instead of traditional loudspeakers for the music.

#2) Long conversations are easier and you can still listen for your favorite song.

First of all, with traditional loudspeakers at peak volume, extended conversation requires lifting your voice to the level of the music. This can get uncomfortable after awhile, which either shortens the conversation or causes you to step outside of the party room to continue.

At a Silent Disco Party, extended conversations are effortless.

If you don’t want to miss your favorite song during the conversation, keep the headphones resting around your neck instead of removing them entirely. Leave the volume on and you can still hear the music coming from the headphones. It is quiet enough to not disturb your conversation, but it is completely audible.

You are enjoying higher quality extended conversations because you are not yelling over loudspeakers. You can still jump onto the dance-floor the minute your favorite song comes on because you can still hear the music from the headphones around your neck.

#3) Non-verbal communication is better because of the headphones.

One of the reasons for loud music is to get people to dance. Dancing is 100% body language. Dancing is the ultimate non-verbal communication.

But the Silent Disco’s three-channels-of-music option introduces additional opportunities for non-verbal communication that are incredibly delightful and unique.

The first is gesturing to your friends that they ought to be listening to the same channel you are listening to. They will be doing the same to you and it adds a simple-unspoken-but-hilariously-fun exchange to the whole activity.

From there, in order to decide whether you want to switch to their channel, you are watching them do the dance motions to their song. You are trying to guess the song they are listening to while you are listening to a completely different song.

This is a whole new level of non-verbal communication that is so much fun, you will just start laughing in spite of yourself!

#4) Connection is the same even if your friends are dancing to a different song!

All of the Silent Disco headphones we have for rent allow users to select between three different channels which in turn allows your fellow dancers to listen to different songs than you are listening to.

You can still dance with your friends even if they are listening to a different song!

We already talked about dancing being a form of body language and a form of non-verbal communication. But, if Silent Disco allows us to dance together while each listening to a different song, are we still communicating and connecting through our body language?

When you are dancing with your friends, is your body language reciting the lyrics? No, your body language is saying, you are my friends and I like dancing with you.

That message does not change as the song and the lyrics change. The tempo will change with a different song. When you mime something from the lyrics, that will change with a different song.

You are still connecting with your friends through dance because your true body language is saying, “You are my friend. I like dancing with you.”

#5) The uniqueness of Silent Disco gives you more to talk about.

Watching people dance without audible music never gets old! That alone is enough to stimulate twenty conversations!

As a culture we are very accustomed to hearing the music that our friends are dancing to. Silent Disco has taken that conditioning and turned it upside down.

It is new, it is exciting, it is funny, it is weird, and yes, it gives us something to talk about!

You are worried that wearing headphones will make it harder to talk with your friends, but paradoxically, the opposite is true!

Whenever friends share a new experience it draws them closer to one another. They communicate and connect more because of that experience.

The fact that Silent Disco is new and unusual increases how much you will talk to your friends about it.

But Silent Disco is not a try-it-once-and-never-again type of activity. Time and time again, I hear from people who go to Silent Disco parties over and over again. They tell me that there is nothing more fun!

In closing:

There are more opportunities for connection and communication at a dances powered by Silent Disco headphones than there are at a dances powered by traditional loudspeakers.

A) You can talk easier and quicker on the dance-floor by lifting up an earpiece.

B) You can talk easier and longer while not missing anything by setting the headphones around your shoulders so the music is still audible.

C) Body language between you and your friends is increased as you interact with each other over the three-channels of music.

D) Connection between friends is maintained even if you are not listening to the same song.

E) Communication between friends is increased because you are sharing the unique and unusual aspects of the Silent Disco together.

What is a good music playlist for silent disco?

You rented our disinfected headphones and now you are wondering, what music to play at your silent disco party?

If you, like most people who rent our headphones, are using phones or tablets with playlists from Spotify, Apple Music or similar services, this article will help you to choose which songs to put on your playlists.

If you are a live DJ or manipulating your playlist during the party, these same principles apply.

What is the single most important thing to consider when choosing awesome music for your party playlist?

Below is a curated playlist from Spotify that works every time!

Notice how familiar the songs look? That means your guests will know them and be able to sing along.

In Silent Disco, your guests want to sing along. Always. That is the single most important metric for silent disco song selection.

The above Spotify playlist is long enough to use on all three channels. Start at the beginning on one device. Start a third of the way through on a second device. Start it two-thirds of the way through on your third device.

Remember that you need to have three different streaming accounts or a family account.

Most streaming platforms only allow one simultaneous stream per device.

Should you have assigned genres to each channel?

We think it is more fun to mix it up and just play anything that is uber popular on any channel.

So, play the most popular songs on all of the channels without regard for genre.

It is a popular playlist strategy to assign each channel a general genre as a guideline. It is believed that this makes it easier for the guests to stay in the mood.

People say that it helps them to keep the channels straight in their heads and it helps the playlist creator/DJ’s to keep from repeating songs from channel to channel.

They may choose top 40 for one of the channels, retro for another and dance-able rock music for the third. (This is just an example. In a more urban setting, you might need old school rap, R&B or a Latin channel.)

We think it is more fun for your guests when you mix it up on each channel. It encourages more togetherness by preventing people from splitting up according to genre.

Let me give some perspective from a traditional DJ dominating the room with loud speakers turned up to eleven.

When a DJ is using a traditional sound system, they have the benefit of being the only music in the room. The listeners don’t have the option of switching to a different channel. This gives the DJ more leeway in song selection.

If listeners don’t care for the song, they may leave the dance floor, but they are not going to turn it off by switching the channel on their headphones.

This is THE game changer that is driving the rapid rise of Silent Disco as a party medium. Suddenly it is up to the listener instead of the DJ to decide what song they are going to listen to. When you look at it that way, it is no surprise that Silent Disco is so popular!

It is the same model we’ve seen on TV and radio. Thanks to the Internet and streaming services we all expect to be able to choose our own media. Why should it be different at a party?

But even a DJ with a traditional sound system needs to play something the crowd knows if she wants to be asked back again. It is a rare club where the DJ can get away with playing unknown music and be able to keep people on the dance floor while doing it.

But with three channel Silent Disco parties, it is important time three to play something the crowd knows, because anything else is simply ignored by judicious use of the channel sector switch.

You’ve got to understand that the mind of the partying listener is always wondering what is on the other channels. They are always worried that they might be missing an awesome song that is playing right now!

So they switch channels every 30 seconds. And when they do, you have only moments to capture them. If they land on your channel during that boring instrumental part, they are gone to the next channel. Hint: If you are DJ’ing live for Silent Disco, queue up past the boring instrumental part!

If they land on your channel while it is playing a song that they don’t know, they are switching channels. You’ve lost them to your channel (for at least thirty seconds).

Play something they know!

There are several ways to “Know” a song. You could know the melody and the beat. It is even better to know the words to a song. The ultimate best way to know a song is to know the moves too!

A perfect example of a song with awesome moves that everybody knows, is the song, “Shout.” Yes, it has fantastic opportunities to sing the words back to the performer (or DJ), but it is those classic dance moves drive that song over the top!

Anyone who sees those dance moves, even if their headphones are set to a different song, knows what song those people are dancing to.

If that song is not on your list – you are missing a huge opportunity.

Now “Shout” is a superstar on the list, but there are a gazillion others that are far more subtle. Examples are any songs that ask you to do anything with various body parts. If it is not in the lyrics, it might be from a music video or movie soundtrack.

Gangnam Style is an example of how a music video can create moves for a song. We don’t even know what many of the words are, but it was the moves in the music video that made the song memorable. It was those same moves imitated by dancers that made the song so much fun on a dance floor.

Everybody knows how much fun it is to sing along to a pumpin’ song and it is even more fun to be singing and doing the moves in perfect time with your friends. Nothing could be better!

So choose songs that have memorable lyrics and moves.

Play songs that they ALL know!

The bests songs are songs that everybody at the party knows. If you play a song that only half of your guests know, and follow it with a song that all of your guests know. The latter will be more fun even if it is not near as good of a song.

Let me say that another way. The quality of the song matters less than the number of people who know it.

Play the best song ever written -but known by few, and your dance floor will be empty. Play a sub-par song – but one that everybody knows, and your dance floor will be packed!

One last word: It is tempting to allow a friend with a phone to run their playlist for awhile. We caution you to first take a look at what they are about to play. If she has a list of songs that your guests don’t know, don’t let her play them.

Your party is NOT the place to promote obscure music or to enlighten your friends about the newest songs. Your party is for having fun. Your party is for bringing people together in a celebration of life.

There is only one way to do that.

Play something they know.

Silent Disco isn’t just for dancing anymore! And you can social distance!

Silent Disco equipment is usually rented to people who are hosting a dance party with either live DJ’s or their own music playlists.

There are many other uses outlined below but in the wake of Coronavirus Covid-19, Silent Disco Headphones are also allow users to be 6 feet apart and still hear the audio clearly.

Silent Disco Headphones allow the group to Socially distance as much as they want and still participate.

Consider walking tours:

It was already tough to hear the leader clearly in a walking tour, but add social distancing and it is nearly impossible unless the leader is amplified.

Now the leader can use our battery-powered portable transmitter and the accompanied microphone.

The participants wear the silent disco headphones so they can hear clearly while spreading out and still feeling like part of the group.

Yoga:

Yoga classes depend on the participants being able to hear clearly and to focus on what the instructor is saying. The headphones help to keep participants on track by blocking out distracting noises. We offer you an updated and more thorough post on socially distanced silent disco yoga here.

A yoga instructor wants their own music and voice to be soft enough to be relaxing and the independent volume controls on the silent disco headphones help each user to set the volume that is right for them.

The headphones also allow classes to be taught in places where a sound system would not be welcome. Classes could be held in a park or an office building, any place that you wouldn’t be able to access without them.

Zumba: Outdoors with plenty of distancing:

Zumba usually involves loud music with lot’s of bass. This prevents Zumba instructors from teaching classes outdoors, in parks or in public places where amplified music would disturb others. Even if a class is taught in a studio, the volume of amplified music can disturb the studio next door if the rooms are not soundproofed.

With loud Zumba music, the independent volume controls are even more useful than with soft Yoga music. Dancers want their music volume just right.

FM powered Wireless headphones are an excellent alternative to loudspeakers even when only using one channel.

One of the reasons Zumba students leave instructors who use traditional loudspeakers is because of differences in music volume preferences. The headphones completely eliminate that concern.

Workouts:

Similar to Zumba, workout classes have a strong emphasis on music volume. The volume of the instructor’s voice is subject to personal preference. Since everybody has their own volume control when using Silent Disco equipment, they can focus more on what the instructor is saying and spend less time thinking they are too loud or too soft.

Workouts can be a more motivational, more intimate, more personal and more inspiring experiences when wearing our headphones.

They can also be socially distanced.

Roller Skating Rinks / Roller Skating Parties:

The music you play at a roller skating rink defines who skates and who leaves.

Give your skaters three channel headphones and you can play three different genres of music simultaneously. This allows you to please more varied musical tastes which means more people will love the music.

When skaters can select their favorite genre at their favorite volume. They stay longer, they have more fun and they tell their friends to come along next time.

Backyard Movies:

Showing a movie in the backyard is fun for kids parties, but if you don’t have the volume turned up, movies lose a lot of their trill. But, if you turn up the volume too high, the neighbors complain.

Of course, the headphones solve that problem and everyone can listen at their own volume.

Now, thanks to silent disco headphones, you can social distance while watching!

Simultaneous movies while socially distancing:

Showing three movies at the same time is the perfect solution when you are trying to get a large group to come over for a movie night. How do you decide what movie to show?

Some people want a chic flick, some want to watch a thriller movie and still others want serious drama.

Wouldn’t it be great to show all three movies simultaneously? With each headphone wearing guest having the ability to choose one of three channels, they can watch the one they like while sitting in the same room as their friends who are listening to a different screening!

Museum tours-6 feet apart:

Some people want the tour, others don’t. Additionally, some people pay extra for the tour. The headphones cover both instances. Only the guests wearing headphones are hearing the tour guide.

A twist on this theme uses all three channels is when you have multiple tour guides working the same space but covering different material simultaneously. Now the tourist chooses which tour guide to listen to depending on which topic they are most interested in.

This also works with simultaneous different languages. You have the Spanish speaking tour guide on the green channel, the Chinese speaking tour guide on red channel and the English speaking guide broadcasting on the blue channel.

Live musical performances outdoors :

If you are trying to host a live musical performance in an urban area with noise ordinances, the headphones solve your logistics problem.

There are many locations where only one band playing through traditional loudspeakers would be too loud. Add the headphones and suddenly you can add more entertainment into the same space.

Consider a resort area where entertainment density is the key to attracting more people. With three channels available on the headphones, they can easily triple the entertainment value of any given space.

Simultaneous live musical performances/battle of the bands:

In a music festival environment you might want to hold a battle of the bands with all three bands playing at once! You could do it Silent Disco style if the bands were using electric instruments and in-ear-monitors.

Your battle of the bands competition would be much more fair if they were all playing simultaneously. They’d have the exact same audience and no one would get the unfair advantage of starting first. Also, the audience would not be subject to waiting while the next band gets ready.

The audience can only hear them on the headphones AND the audience can choose which band to listen to. Because the headphones light up in the color the listeners chooses, the winner could be seen visually.

Backyard comedy show:

Once you get any number of guests in your backyard, a comedian is going to need a sound system. Suddenly the neighbors are involved. Headphones stop that problem in its tracks.

Simultaneous side shows:

Three vaudeville style performers on three different stages on three different sides of the room performing simultaneously? With headphones, it could happen!

Factory floor meetings or tours:

Some factories are very noisy. If you don’t have a big meeting room, but you still want to have a meeting with all the employees, use our FM wireless headphones.

Sure you could use loudspeakers to add even more noise on top of the factory noise, but your staff is going to be resentful of it.

With over-the-ear styling, the headphones shut out some of the ambient noise making it easier to hear the presenter and easier to focus on what they are saying.

Construction site meetings or tours:

Same as above. If you can’t stop the noise and have nowhere to go, just hold the meeting using our headphones. They cut out the ambient noise and help participants to focus on the message.

Golf tournaments:

There is supposed to be silence when the golf-pro takes his shot. Perfect place for a dance party! 😉 🙄

Again, this is just a partial list for an industry that is still in its infancy. Regardless, here at www.silent-disco-rental.com we are here to cheerfully fill your needs as they arise.

How to make sure your guests return the headphones

We are so excited that you are planning a Silent Disco Party with us!

This is the fastest growing dance party trend in town and here at www.silent-disco-rental.com we want to make it as easy as possible for you to host awesome parties that will make you the envy of all your friends and the most popular party host for miles around.

One of the first questions people ask is how do we keep the headphones from disappearing?

Obviously, if you are holding a larger party where you don’t know all of the guests personally, the question of how to keep the headphones from walking away becomes a real concern.

In most cases, you have paid a significant sized security deposit when you rented the equipment from us. That means that you are on the hook for the pieces that don’t come back home.

We have compiled a list of strategies for your convenience.
Some will work only under certain circumstances. You will not use the same ones all the time.

How to make sure your Silent Disco guests return the headphones.

It is important that you use multiple strategies for maximum effectiveness.

1) Have a dedicated person in charge of the inventory:
Clear lines of responsibility yield better results.

2) Have a staff member at each door:
If there are multiple exits, enlist a few other dedicated (non-partying) staffers to watch those doors.

3) Don’t let anyone enter or leave without exchanging headphones:

Make sure all doors are covered and nobody enters without picking up a set of headphones and nobody leaves without dropping off a set.

4) Don’t allow jackets, backpacks or over-sized purses into the party room:
Again, this relies on having staff to enforce it. The reason to do it is that it prevents guests from concealing anything on the way in or out.

For an outdoor party or if you don’t have enough staff to cover the doors, hold something of value to return to the guests when they return the headphones.

5) A list of items you can hold for security:

Their driver’s license:
This is our favorite. Keep the licenses in alphabetical order. It is pretty easy to do that and they can be found quickly for return.

Their student ID:
This works well for college events because a small percentage do not have a driver’s license. We do recommend looking at it closely because many college students have fake ID’s for buying alcohol and they may give up the fake in exchange for keeping the headphones.

A credit card:
Credit cards are not our first choice since some guests will be nervous about it, but credit cards work if they don’t have something else.

Car keys, house keys or dorm keys:
These can be difficult to keep track of since many of them look the same. Be ready with a plan to label them if you are considering this route.

6) Hold cash as a security:
We recommend $40. This is quick and easy, but if you don’t have an ATM nearby for people who don’t carry cash, you’ll need to offer alternate options too.

7) Charge a security deposit on their credit card – then refund it:
This depends on your credit card vendor. Some of them will penalize you for too many refunds. Of course you’ll need a card reader for your phone and an account with a company like Square, Paypal, or other.

8) Charge the money on Paypal, then send it back instead of refunding it:
This way you avoid the problem of too many refunds, but you do have to pay Paypal’s transaction fees for the extra transaction.

9) Hold a paper personal check:
This can only be one option of several because many people don’t carry checkbooks anymore. Also checks can bounce or the guest can stop payment.

10) Make Announcements:

Let guests know that you are on the hook to pay for any headphones that are not returned.

In today’s disposable culture, they may not even realize you have to return them. An announcement will help.

Let guests know that the headphones won’t work anywhere else.
Without the announcement, people will automatically assume that they are either Bluetooth or WiFi and that they will work at home.

They also may not realize that they can’t recharge or replace the batteries without the dedicated chargers.

They may not realize that they need the exact FM frequency to even send a signal to the headphones.

The above information will make your guests less likely to steal them on purpose.

In the future:

The headphones may be tagged with GPS chips or have Barcodes that can make this process more streamlined and accurate in the future.

For now, this is a developing market with a few wrinkles that still need to be ironed out.

But if you put a handful of the above strategies into place, you can experience this hot new trend with minimal equipment loss and maximum party enjoyment.

We are so glad that you’ve chosen to rent your equipment from www.silent-disco-rental.com

Party On!

Top ten reasons to rent silent disco equipment for your next party

#10 Ease of use/setup

If you rent your silent disco equipment from www.silent-disco-rental.com, everything is already hardwired and neatly built into it’s own case when it is delivered to your door.

There is literally no assembly required. Loose wires are all neatly tucked away. It looks better at your party and it is easier to use.

There are no tangled cords to figure out or speaker placement issues to deal with. You can focus on more important party details, like having fun with your friends and family.

Of course, the silent disco headphones are already charged up and ready to go. Hand them out to your guests. They do the rest.

All you need is one outlet, your phone or tablet to play your music and you are up and running!

#9 It is the hottest new party trend of 2017.

Let’s face it. One of the biggest barriers to having fun at a party is being unable to forget your own troubles.

But when you see something new and interesting – like people dancing to music you can’t hear, you get curious. That helps you to relax.

The next thing you know, you are having the time of your life playing air-guitar and screaming rock lyrics into your beer-bottle microphone.

#8 Light up headphones add to the party atmosphere.

The headphones light up according to which channel the wearer selects. The entire earpiece is illuminated by either a red, green or blue LEDs. In low light, this is especially striking.

As the dancers move to the music, it is a human light show.

#7 The competition between playlists.

Whether you have three live DJ’s or just a friend’s Spotify playlist competing against yours, you can see which channel your guests are listening to by what color their headphones are. It is exciting to watch and see which songs are favorites in the crowd.

This adds a whole new level of fun for your guests as they enthusiastically try to convince fellow dancers to switch to channels.

If it is your playlist that is getting all the love, the visual feedback is exhilarating! Next thing you know, all your your friends want to take you on with their playlists!

It’s like the wild west all over again!

#6 Guests choose their own volume level.

What is the one thing that causes more complaints at a party than at any other? That’s right. The volume. It is either too low or too high.

Thank the good Lord above, each of these headphones have their own, easy to use, volume control!

Can you imagine every single guest at your party thinking the music volume is perfect? Welcome to the age of miracles!

2017 doesn’t suck after-all!

#5 Your guests can converse more easily with a Silent Disco format.

Headphones make it easier to talk to your partner. Take a second to think about this. With regular loudspeakers at dance-floor volume, how do you talk to your partner? -You yell at them. By the end of the night, your voice is gone and your ears are bleeding.

But with headphones, when you want to talk to your partner, you simply lift the headphones from your ear(s) or slide them down to your neck. Now you can talk in normal conversational volume!

Finally, you can whisper sexy-sweet-nothings to your dancing partner and they will hear you!

#4 User switchable channels mean more engagement on the part of your guests.

Afraid that some of your guests won’t want to get involved? You see them at every conventional loud music party. They are leaning against the wall with their arms crossed doing nothing.

They are living manifestations of Newton’s Law of Inertia, -which states an object at rest tends to stay at rest while an object in motion tends to stay in motion.

Without the headphones, there is nothing to get those guests started. But with the headphones, they are forced to keep switching their own channels in order to hear what they are seeing. Often, that is just enough to break them out of their resting state.

Next thing you know, they are tapping their foot, then bobbing their head, then goosing their headphone volume. Their eyes turn to fire and they moonwalk onto the dance floor to show you how it is really done!

#3 Three types of music playing simultaneously!

Worried they might not like your music?

Well, with only one set of loudspeakers, one song is all they get. Like it or leave it. Is that the message you want to send to your party guests?

Now you don’t have to. Just show them how to change their own channel on their headphones. Now they have three song options instead of just one.

We recommend using different genres on each channel. For example try: Blue channel – retro, Red channel – top 40, and green channel – old school hip-hop. You get the idea.

Choose your own genre’s depending on your guest list. Maybe one of them should be country, R&B, Salsa, Swing… The sky is the limit!

#2 People dance more because headphones take away inhibitions.

People wearing headphones feel more protected from the judgment of their friends.

This is especially true when wearing over-the-ear headphones that are playing music. Given that one of the reasons people don’t dance is fear of criticism, headphones create dancers!

Combine this with the fact that -because three different channels of music are possible – you can be dancing to a different song than your partner. That means you don’t have to worry about matching their rhythm.

Let the uninhibited  dancing begin!

And the #1 reason to have your next party be a silent disco party?

You can have your party anywhere because it doesn’t violate noise ordinances!

Suddenly, you can have a backyard dance party without the cops telling you to shut down the music!

Instead of your backyard, try the library, the mall, the subway, or the park. The only noise outsiders will hear from your party is your guests singing along and having the time of their lives!

What are silent disco headphones?

What makes silent disco headphones different than regular headphones?

Unlike regular headphones that allow you to listen to your own audio, silent disco headphones allow a group of people to listen to a single source at a party or group event.

Silent disco headphones are wireless over-the-ear headphones (as opposed to earbuds) that pick up their audio signal from a special transmitter used by the DJ, Band, or presenter.

The ‘disco’ part of the term, silent disco headphones, does not refer to the ‘disco’ genre. It refers to the fact that they are typically used for dance party music.

Additionally, a ‘Silent Disco’ dance party does not mean that there will be 70’s style disco music played. It only means that silent disco headphones will be listened to by the dancers as opposed to the loudspeakers of a traditional PA system.

The headphones, are used for all genres and types of audio and have a range of 300 meters (about three football fields) from the DJ(s), Band(s) or presenter(s).

This makes silent disco a perfect option to allow large groups of people to dance to ‘loud’ music in relative ‘silence’.

The silent aspect of these headphones have made silent disco parties extremely popular in high-density-population areas and in any location that has noise ordinances.

When silent disco headphones are used, large outdoor music festivals can be held inside city limits where the noise would otherwise be prohibitively loud.

Want to have a dance party in your local library?
Silent disco headphones will allow you to do that in silence!

The headphones allow parties to continue into the after-hours in relative quiet which keeps the neighbors happy and the police from being called in to break up the party.

Think about a simple party in your backyard. If you want to have loud music playing but you know your neighbors would kill you, silent disco headphones are a game changer.

Your guests can play the music as loud as they want to and nobody is going to call the cops!

With silent disco headphones, you can even have a party in your hotel room or apartment without having to worry about getting kicked out!

Silent disco headphones allow dancers to have conversations.

When the music comes from loudspeakers at a dance party, if is very difficult for dancers to have a conversation. They have to yell to be heard above the music or step outside to talk.

With silent disco parties, it is super easy to have conversations because all you have to do is remove your headphones.

The loud music disappears immediately when you remove the headphones. Now you can talk freely in a conversational tone.

No more need to blow out your vocal cords trying to talk to your friends over the music.

Talking to your friends at a dance party is way easier with silent disco!

Silent disco headphones don’t all have the same number of channels.

When the concept started in the 90’s and early 2000’s, the headphones picked up a single channel only. Now you can find headphones with anywhere from 1 to 10 channels.

For each channel, you need a separate transmitter connected to its own audio source.

The most popular systems today are three channels. This means that there are three transmitters, -each with their own audio source.

Headphone wearers can choose to listen to any one of three audio sources at any given moment by switching the channel on their headphones.

Popular uses for Silent Disco headphones:

A popular use is to avoid using a DJ by having three different playlists streaming from Spotify or Apple Music to three different cell phones. Each of those cell phones are connected to one of the three transmitters. Each transmitter broadcasts wirelessly to one of the channels on the headphones.

At a large dance party or rave, there might be three live DJs. Each DJ is feeding their audio into one of the transmitters and competing for the listeners attention.

The headphones light up in a different color according to which channel the dancer is listening to. This allows the DJs to see who is listening to their feed which adds additional fun and excitement to all involved.
