Silent discos are fun for several reasons!
They create a unique social experience where everyone wears headphones tuned to one of the same three channels that everyone is listening to, and they allow you to dance with others while experiencing music in your own personal way.
The headphones make you feel much less inhibited and you enjoy your own dancing much more because of that.
They are not just fun, they are also funny!
The contrast between listening to the silent room and simultaneously seeing the energetic dancing is hilrarious to watch!
And there’s something inherently comedic about removing your headphones mid-dance and seeing a room full of people singing off-key to music only they can hear!
And of course, it is super nice to have control over your own headphone volume and to have the ability to switch between the 3 different music channels as often as you like.
That alone makes it more fun than listening to a traditional DJ who uses loudspeakers.
It works great in a backyard party because it is quiet enough that the cops won’t be called to come and break it up.
